Advantages and Disadvantages of using Mulberry

This page is for user comments about what they feel are the good points and bad points about Mulberry - good points come first!

Advantages

  • Excellent IMAP support
  • Handles large, high volume email accounts easily
  • Inheritance allows easy creation of new identities
  • Marks email read as soon as it's opened, regardless of how quickly it's read
  • Allows signing multiple identities with the same certificate
  • Simple enterprise deployment using IMSP
  • Almost unlimited options allow excellent personalization
  • Inheritance-based configuration of folders, accounts, and identities
  • Message editor with useful text reflowing options, eg., reflowing quoted text
  • Supports multiple message alert and checking styles that may be assigned to specific mailboxes
  • Has plugin support for PGP and GnuPG (PGP/MIME and identity specific options also supported)
  • Integrated S/MIME support
  • Multiple SMTP server support both at account and identity configuration levels.
  • Ability to define custom headers for identities
  • Ability to choose, at message composition/send time, where the outgoing message will be filed, and (for replies) to optionally also re-file the message being replied to.
  • Full support for SSLv3 and STARTTLS for POP, IMAP and SMTP

Disadvantages

  • Doesn't render graphical attachments inline
  • Single-threaded
  • Keystrokes not configurable
  • No localisation
  • Configuration in multiple places (eg. Preferences, Windows menus) is confusing
