Ticket #85 (new Bug)
copied text from received message won't paste into Nisus, TextEdit, etc
Description
I want to copy text from a received email message to a word processor. I am using a Mac- a G4 iBook running OS 10.4.7 and Mulberry 4.0.5.
I highlight text in the Mulberry window, and press <Command-c> to copy the text to the Clipboard. I click a Dock icon for a word proceesing program, such as Nisus Writer Express, TextEdit?, Word, etc. I press <Command-v> to paste the text into an open text document window. The text is not pasted. No new text is visible in the text document. Results are similar using menu commands instead of key-combinations.
Choosing Show Clipboard from the Finder>Edit menu displays an empty clipboard window. This makes it seem like the text is not being copied onto the clipboard. BUT, I can paste the text clipping into a Mulberry Draft window (outgoing message). Also, the text that I am trying to copy shows up in the PTHPasteboard clippings list (quitting PTHPasteboard has no effect on the problem for current nor subsequent copy/paste attempts). Trying to paste the text via PTHPasteboard is identically unsuccessful, acting just like the direct paste attempt.
Another clue: When I try to paste into Nisus Express, the word "Edit" in the menu bar remains highlighted, as though the program is stuck in executing the paste command. However, I can still use the word procesor. I can unhighlight the word "Edit" by clicking on it, which reveals the Edit menu, and then clicking back in the document. When in try to past in TextEdit?, the word "Edit" in the menu bar blinks, but returns to normal immediately. No text is pasted in any case.
Strangely, text fragments copied from a Draft window can be pasted into my word processors. This leads to the tedious work-around: Copy text from incoming message, open new Draft window, paste text, select text in Draft window, copy selected text, switch to word processor and paste text.
I speculate that along with the text, I am copying some invisible character that prevents the proper pasting. This behavior does not occur with Mulberry 3.1.6. on the same computer.
