Description
it does not support IMAP-IDLE till now (not as far as I could see), which is very usefull, when implemented in IMAP-Server, so you don't have to request new mails all the time and you are informed faster about new emails.

Not a biggie for me. I turn off all notification, and look at email when I want to look at email, otherwise my day dissapears.
What is this fascination that people have with wanting to be prodded and poked all the time

It's mainly good for companies/support-accounts Normal people I guess don't need it, but if you mainly look at your mail-client and answer mails, you will really like this feature. As well as it safes some traffic usin it continuously, cause you don't ask the server for new mails all the time, but the server tells you there is new mail.
I agree. That's the one cool thing when using Thunderbird with our Cyrus IMAP servers: new mail shows up immediately.
