Preferences changes don't stick without intentional commit, no warning.

Description
When preferences are changed, if they're not saved (Save Default) they do not stick, but there's no warning that there are preferences that have not been fixed, so it is easy to forget. Closing the preferences dialog without saving the changes should trigger an "are you sure" dialog.
That dialog, like all others, should have a "don't show again" toggle.
