Attachment detatch rule to remove attachments from server for local storage

A very useful Thunderbird plug-in is "Detach Attachments" that can remove attachments from the mail store and move them to the local file system. It would be nice to have a rule action that could perform that task when the rule conditions are met - for example over a certain size or if the message is older than a certain number of days or months - thus enabling automatic pruning of the mail store. Another useful application would be removing graphic signature/glyph/logo attachments and /dev/null ing them.
